SOCIAL RETURN ON INVESTMENT

We previously posted on Return on Invested Capital (ROIC) – here we examine Social Return on Capital (SROI) and want your #opinion.

Unlike ROCI, SROI is the #financialvalue of the social and environmental good that is likely to result from each dollar invested.

SROI=(SIV-IIA) / (IIA×100%)

where:

SIV=social impact value

IIA=initial investment amount

Which calculation do you use?

In an article by the #Harvard Business Review, a team individuals from The Rise Fund and The Bridgespan Group identified a new metric to evaluate the projected return of an opportunity : impact multiple of money (IMM) with the last step in the calculation being the calculation of social return for every dollar spent.

Have you used the IMM before?
